How does a Lutheran education influence excellence?

A true and complete education is one that meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual needs of students. Christ Lutheran High School, in partnership with the family, will be concerned for the whole person. This starts with a firm foundation in the Christian faith. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we will provide the opportunity for students to grow faithfully in their love for God, His Word, and other human beings. As faithful members of the Body of Christ, students will be more equipped to advance socially, emotionally, and intellectually into responsible, discerning, and compassionate citizens in the community.

We are all “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14), and that includes each one of our future students. We know that every individual has unique gifts and interests, and it will be the responsibility of the administration, teachers, and staff to provide the means for students to discover and develop their distinct calling and purpose in life. Through the grace and love of our Lord, Jesus Christ, we will equip students to be the servant-leader God has called them to be and help them wholeheartedly embrace that calling.

At Christ Lutheran High School, we will:

  • Share Christ’s love through words and actions

  • Promote and pursue academic excellence

  • Provide a supportive, caring, and nurturing community

  • Partner with parents to encourage the discovery and development of each student’s God-given abilities

On Monday, July 6, the board of directors will be leaning heavily into discussions on education models and curriculum at their monthly board meeting. We have been speaking with leaders at various Lutheran schools across the country to learn about what others are doing and where they are seeing success and failure. This past month, we heard from Rob Cooksey about the hybrid-model school he just launched in Fremont, NE; last week, a couple of our members met with Todd Moritz, who founded LuTec, another type of hybrid educational model in Norwalk, CA; and this week, the board will hear from Joy Mehlhoff on classically-informed education at Martin Luther School in Bismarck, ND.

We have been blessed with the opportunity to glean insights from a wide variety of individuals who are all very passionate about Lutheran education. Please pray for wisdom, discernment, and God’s guidance to steer our decisions toward a rich, rigorous, and God-pleasing model that will shape the next generation of young men and women into strong Christian leaders.
