Christ-like Character
-
Christian confidence is a humble certainty; it is not arrogance or self-reliance, but steady assurance that flows from trusting God as the source of all strength, wisdom, and ability.
Christian confidence looks like:
Acknowledging God’s provision and guidance in success
Responding to failure with faith, not defeat
Trusting God when waiting for an answer
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
-
Courage is the strength to do what is right despite adversity. Christian courage is taking action in the presence of fear, trusting in God’s provisions for your every need.
Christian courage looks like:
Having a hard conversation
Admitting you were wrong
Staying when leaving would be easier
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)
-
Compassion is genuine, heartfelt caring for others that leads to action. It is the ability to notice another person’s suffering, feel moved by it, and possess the desire to help relieve it. Christian compassion looks like:
Loving people at their worst, not just at their best
Helping without expecting anything in return
Speaking truth gently, not harshly
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you. (Ephesians 4:32)
-
Integrity is the alignment of outward actions to inner values; intentionally living out your beliefs, words, and actions to align with God’s truth—both publicly and privately—even when it’s hard.
Christian integrity looks like:
Owning a mistake instead of blaming others
Doing the right thing, regardless of who is watching
Not just hearing God’s word, but living it in every area of life
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as if working for the Lord. (Colossians 3:23)
-
Perseverance is sustained effort despite obstacles; Endurance. Grit. Determination. Resilience. Self-discipline. Commitment.
Christian perseverance looks like:
Getting back up after failure
Faithfully upholding your roles and responsibilities
Continuing to trust in Christ, remain in His Word, and live in repentance despite difficulty, suffering, or temptation
Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9)
-
Discernment is the heightened ability to distinguish between right and wrong. Christian discernment separates truth from error based on God’s will in scripture, not by gut feelings or personal intuition.
Christian discernment looks like:
Seeking wisdom through Scripture and prayer
Holding fast to Truth amongst shifting cultural trends
Prioritizing Truth over worldly desires
Do not conform to the world but be transformed to discern God's will, which is good and perfect. (Romans 12:2)
Academic Excellence
Proficiency in core academics
Passion for unique talents
Aptitude to pursue growth
Competency to navigate challenges
Conviction in the Christian faith
Empowered, not merely educated
