Leading with Christ
We are all very eager for the vision of a Lutheran High School to take shape through concrete developments like buildings, staffing, and student enrollment, but there are many layers to laying a solid foundation that are important to carefully consider to amplify the value of the more tangible developments. One of those layers is choosing a name.
During one of the earliest stages of development for Christ Lutheran High School, a group of people – who later became the Board of Directors – were brainstorming a name for the new Lutheran high school. Passionate about Christian education, and knowing that Lutheran schools were unique, they wanted a name that conveyed a clear emphasis on a Christ-centered perspective and Biblical worldview.
This group also knew that they wanted a high school where young people would grow in their knowledge and understanding of Christ Jesus and in their Christian faith. They wanted this school to be a witness to the community and a place where those who didn’t know Christ as their Savior could begin a relationship with Him. These convictions soon led the Board of Directors to vote unanimously to name the new school, Christ Lutheran High School.
Through this name, students could insightfully respond to the question about where they go to school with, “I go to Christ.” And simultaneously, that name would convey our unique mission to teach our students where to go with every prayer, praise, and plea – to Christ Jesus.
Christ Lutheran High School will be a place where students are prepared to be Christian leaders in all walks of life. It will be a school where young people will develop their unique God-given gifts and abilities so they can courageously, confidently, and compassionately make lasting, positive impacts in the lives of those they encounter. And it will be a place where the love of Christ is shared daily in thought, word, and deed through strong, Christian leadership.
This month, building on a name and mission that leads with Christ, the Board of Directors has been digging into various education models to determine the best method to help shape strong Christian leaders, and our director of development is building connections with churches, families, and supporters to grow the Christ Lutheran High community.
Please continue to pray for the faithful, successful launch of this important mission, and stay tuned for those exciting, tangible updates.
