Unraveling the Heart of Our Mission
The mission of Christ Lutheran High School is to prepare students to be Christian leaders in all walks of life, through rich and rigorous personal and academic development.
What does it mean to be a leader?
Leadership, broadly speaking, is about influence and direction. A strong leader guides, inspires, and encourages others toward meaningful goals while developing the people and culture around them. Christian leadership, however, is filtered through the lens of Christ and viewed as a form of service and stewardship rather than pursuit of personal achievement.
Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Matt 20:26-28)
Christ is the perfect model of a servant leader. We look to His word and His life to understand the role of Godly leadership. Rather than asking “How can I build something great?,” we ask “How can God use me to accomplish His purpose?” By exercising discipleship in Christ, God shapes us into servant leaders who prioritize stewardship over ownership, service over power, and shepherding rather than mere management.
Why is leadership an important part of student formation?
Leaders think bigger. Leadership development teaches students to influence rather than simply achieve. It cultivates the wisdom, character, habits, and skills needed to faithfully influence outcomes beyond themselves and into their families, churches, workplace, and communities.
The goal is not to produce students who seek positions of power, but graduates who confidently, courageously, and compassionately make lasting, positive impacts wherever God places them. Not everyone will hold a formal leadership position, but every Christian is called to lead in some capacity through faithful service and love for their neighbor.
Our to-do list is long, but the progress continues to move forward thanks to a wonderful community of supporters! We want to extend our sincerest thanks to everyone who has modeled servant leadership this past month by giving us your time and talents, lifting us in prayer, stepping out in faith with generous monetary gifts, and offering volunteer support!
